Top 10 Moments in 2 Months, $2 Million (2M2MM)

First of all, I just want to point out that it’s pretty funny that on a show named “2 Months $2 Million” the last two weeks were called “week 9″ and “final days.”  WTF!

I’ll reflect on this whole experience as time goes on, for now, I’ve got my top 10 moments from the first season.  I think it’s pretty hard to write a real top 10 list, I loved so much about the show, but here goes:

10.  The opening shots of the series – quick flashes of Vegas, women and gambling.  You see and hear us in the Range Rover on the strip, driving to the house, you hear the maniacal kid-in-a-playland laughter… way before you ever see us.  Very cool.

9. Me vs BLEWJOB in the premiere, Brian in the PLO game with Ivey and Gus in Ep. 5, me vs Viffer in Lockdown.  These were incredible sequences, great for poker, very well edited and captured the risks and drama in poker expertly.  If we get a Season 2 I hope that we can find more interesting and compelling big games like these in every episode.

8.  LuckyChewy.  Online poker’s McLovin.  I don’t know where to find it online, but there’s a great moment in this year’s WSOP broadcast (Chewy went REALLY deep in the Main Event) where Chewy rebluffs Vitaly Lunkin and Vitaly knows Chewy is bluffing and flips a coin to see whether or not he’s going to call (Chewy is obv stone-faced).  It’s straight up Rocky vs Ivan Drago, a must watch.

7.  The Connect 4 Charity Song.  “DeucesCracked, you know who they are, online Phil Jackson for your poker cards!”

6.  Going on a date with Chelsea on TV.  Pretty much anything related to our relationship felt like Paul was directing an episode of The Hills.

5.  Emil Patel, ladies and gentleman.  Emil is definitely the best character on the show (even though he escaped without a penalty stunt, next time!!!).  So many moments to choose from, but I’d have to say the water balloon prank, Emil vs. the harpist, and Star Wars trivia are the tops.  Punnet Squares too.  Damnit, there are just too many good ones!!

4. LOCKDOWN!!!

3. My mom, and Barry Manilow.  Even my little brother got a cameo.

2. The tilt room.  I can’t describe how awesome it is to just have a crazy idea in your head and see it built by a television network to mess around with.

I still remember when you first told me about this project something like 2.5 years ago. I was excited for you, but wasn’t sure if a network would pick it up (specs are always “speculative” no matter how good the concept may be). Big congratulations on taking it all the way. You guys all deserve a big pat on the back — it was no easy task. 2m2mm represents a great leap forward for you personally and online poker in general. Well done, I’m happy for you. Now go book a second season!

  2. Thanks for a great show!

The last shot reminded me of Oceans Eleven before they all go their own way :)

  3. Look at the glow coming off Dani’s trainers lol

  4. Congratulations on taking the concept this far and having success on cable TV. I have no f’ing idea how you did it, but you got my wife to take a modicum of interest in online poker and take a small glimpse into my world.

  10. Jay, it was a pleasure overseeing the marketing campaign for the series and I could not have asked for a better partner than you. Though you’ll never toot your own horn, fans should know that this level of involvement from talent in the ongoing marketing and PR for a series is very rare. Rare in the sense that Jay did so much extra work and on the fly strategy on behalf of the show AND that all of this direct involvement was not driven by an ounce of vanity or ego. 2M2MM will not only go down as my best experience thus far at G4, it will always be that special labor of love that I will count among the most enjoyable of my career.

  11. Loved the show Jay, even if it was a pain to get hold of it here in the UK!

How would you feel about doin a little interview to go on the Betfair site? Drop me an email at matthewpitt.omr@googlemail.com either way and we’ll take it from there
