AHAHAHA TOURNAMENT POKER

Grinded the Main Event all day, was chip leader around 70k at one point. Lost a buncha chips with a superdraw, down to about 50bb at 150/300, lost A9 to 66 on A96cc to Sirens. Busto!!!

At least I… nope, there’s no silver lining. FML (obv should have played rush poker for high scores all day)

Note: the Australian service industry is awful. Every meal takes 3 hours, the waiters don’t get tipped so they have no incentive to check on your table or make sure the wait isn’t interminable. Even Nobu is tainted by this. EVEN NOBU!!!

  1. Least that gave you the chance to play more at the cash tables and hopefully take plenty off ex-boxer Jeff Fenech. Was wandering around the tables today and watched you groan as you folded queens pre-flop. Hope you’re enjoying your time in Aus

Jay, You should thank the waitor at NOBU, he saved you about $300 when he screwed up the beef dishes and gave it us for free.

  3. I didn’t realize who that was until after he won a medium-sized pot from me and I tried to give him a fist pound, someone at the table started laughing and was all “you don’t want him to fist bump you…”

    AUSTRALIA DAY!!!

  4. ha ha ha, great story! I thought you were playing a cash table, until I re-read your post. Not sure how Fenech is still in and you’re not but from what I heard he was catching some cards.

And how terrible was his 888 leather looking track-suit? Altho, I of course would not tell him that.

How’s your time in Melbourne going? Other than the bad service

  5. If you’re still in Melbourne, I had an excellent meal there recently at Taxi Dining room which is down in Federation Square just near the river. Service was flawless.

Another restaurant to check out would be Rockpool Bar and Grill. While i’m from Sydney and have only been to the one up here, it’s probably the best steak I’ve had in Australia. Ask for the Cafe de Paris butter with your main if you go; it’s delicious.

Not sure where you’ve been getting such bad service but overall in Aus it’s typically pretty good. I certainly didn’t think it was worse than the few times i’ve been in the states.

In fact i’d be inclined to think that a system where tips are earned rather than expected/required would be more likely to generate better service. Most people still tip here if they feel it is deserving, so it’s in the wait staff’s best interests to be attentive.

Lots of yanks – say that about our service.
How did you go in the Heads up event?

  8. I am looking forward to your first rush poker vid. Perfect for a slow sunday afternoon ;)

  9. You should write an entry on your thoughts about rush poker. A lot of people (SSNL grinders specifically) are looking down upon the new FTP update, and I was wondering what your perspective on it was.
