night at the circus

Last night I ate chinese food with circus performers.

I know, I know, you’re prob thinking “Uhh, standard?” but even though my FTP avatar is the clown doesn’t mean I actually gallivant around with tightrope walkers and contortionists.

The gf and I are in Irvine, CA for two days before Aussie Millions and as luck would have it, Kooza was in town, and as luck would have it, our mutual friend Meetu has been living the Cirque du Soleil life for the past year traveling around and singing in it.  So we went, and it was awesome.  So far I’m 3/3 on awesome Cirque shows (LOVE and O being the others) – highly recommend seeing one of these bad boys if you get a chance (if only to familiarize yourself with the epic empire Guy Laliberte has built for himself).  The plot of this one is standardly surrealist – boy + kite + dog enter world of clowns, dancing skeletons and demons.  And boy learns acrobatics!  Highlight: THE WHEEL OF DEATH:

So after it was over, we met Meetu backstage and got a tour of circus life that ended up with the three of us on a coach bus with the whole troupe to a Chinese restaurant where we ate and asked many, many questions about life in Cirque du Soleil.  I’m sure I came off like a total noob but I’m not gonna lie — there have been many a day where I’ve stared into my clown avatar’s smiling face and wondered what if…  Probably a function of all that carnival music I blast when I’m blogging.

AUSTRALIA HERE I COME! (Australian clown told us that it was 110 degrees in Melbourne the other day, sayonara icy NYC!!!)

  1. have you seen avatar yet?!?
i haven’t, just wanted to know your thoughts

  2. Nice use of your time in LA. I’ve yet to see one Cirque show. Very well played. Have fun in Australia — it’s snowing here in Munich.

  3. Finally saw Avatar in IMAX 3-D – fking incredible. The story was predictable but a good kind of predictable – you know what’s coming but you are fking STOKED because you wanna SEE it when it finally comes. The 3D was literally mindblowing, did not want it to end.

  5. It was 44.5 degrees celsius here on Monday which I am pretty sure works out about 110 farenheit. As per standard Melbourne weather it was 20 degrees the next day and raining.

Looking forward to seeing you guys down here, I am booked into most of your seminars.

  6. whatever happened to that carnival game you were betting on that was supposed to come back and let you keep playing?
